Craftin’ with Kids

I held my semi annual Craftin’ with Kids event on August 27th.  I did this last year and the date seems to work pretty well.  Many folks were in town, because school was starting on Monday.  It also gave the kids the opportunity to make a card for their friends or their teachers for their first day.   I love watching the kids start to create their card….I give them the “guideline” and they each  make it their own.  Most of them know exactly who they are giving that card to when they start.

Here are the cards we made (I have tried making other projects, but apparently, kids LOVE cards!)

stamp set:  turtle and co (our ronald mcdonald house stamp set), happiest birthday wishes (hostess set)
cardstock:  sahara sand, whisper white, island indigo, pool party
ink:  basic black, island indigo
accessories:  lattice folder for  mr. big, scallop edge border punch, scallop circle punch, 1 3/8 circle punch, pop dots, colored pencils.

stamp set:  need for speed (belongs to my son, he saw it in the new catalog and it was a MUSt have for him!)
cardstock:  whisper white, pumpkin pie, tempting turquoise
ink:  tempting turquoise
accessories:  pumpkin pie designer paper, pumpkin pie/tempting turquoise 1/4 inch grosgrain, 1 1/4 square punch, 1 3/8 square punch, houndstooth folder for mr. big and pop dots.

stamp sets:  aviary, distressed dots, teeny tiny wishes
cardstock:  whisper white, marina mist
ink:  so saffron, perfect plum, marina mist

*if you attended this class and took home the wrong card, PLEASE let me know.  One of the girl’s made this for her dad and ended up with the wrong one.  Her’s says Happy Father’s Day.  She has yours and would love to trade!

Now, I loved all of the cards, but this last one…..I had to “BAM” it up a notch, so here’s my version:

not too many changes, just a layer of perfect plum, a little paper piercing, some hardware and a small piece of ribbon.  Ta-Da!  Straight from last year’s catalog!

I had 19 kids come stamp on Saturday- that’s AWESOME!  I hope everyone had a good time, enjoyed their cards and snacks and I appreciate everyone’s patience!  I will be doing another one this winter, when we are all stuck inside, bored out of our minds and looking for something fun.  Stay tuned!
