Craftin’ with Kids

I was so sorry to have to cancel this class when we got some bad weather a few weekends ago, but…we made it up on Saturday.  Sadly, the flu bug got to some kiddos and the new date didn’t suit some….but we partied on.

Thanks to David, Hannah, Alana, Tyler, Brock and Kylie who came to make some cards with me.  McKayla and Carys visited a few days earlier as well.  Oh….and Mario and Luigi came as well….they enjoyed turning the handle of the Big Shot!

The kids were great….such super Jr. Stampers!  I hope you’ll come back again in August!!!

Here is what they made:

Craftin’ with Kids

Last Saturday, I held my annual Craftin’ with Kids class.  I try to do this class just before school starts because, most families are home and the kids enjoy making cards for their new teachers or friends.

I love this class…..I love watching them create their cards and add their own little touches.  I love when they know EXACTLY who they are giving each card too.

I had 20 kids attend and this is what they made:

Craftin’ with Kids

I love this class.   Thirteen little punks showed up on Saturday to make cards….they absolutely loved it.  Well, almost all of them.   There was a brother who was drug out of his warm bed on a Saturday morning to take the place of his sister….who forgot she was to be here.  Stamping for him…..not a top priority….but….he hung in there like a very sweet (he would HATE that I said that) little trooper.

Here is what we made:

Super cute, super quick and those kids love when they get a chance to play with Mr. Big!  This is a toned down version of another card….but I can’t show you that one….yet.

Outlined Occasions…a free Sale a Bration set and perfect for those little ones….because they LOVE to color!!!!

This may have been the favorite of the day…..you gotta love googly eyes!   This was a “toned” down version of my card.

Here is what I made:

Not too different….still with the googly eyes!  I heard that a few of the ladies that came were giving this card to themselves because they loved it so much!

Now, my poor son couldn’t attend because his pinewood derby race had been rescheduled from the week before.  But, I promised to have a packet for him so he could make the cards on Sunday.  And he did….he LOVES to stamp.   I think it’s great that we have a “thing” we get to do together.  And I love that I have alot of Aunties who bring their nieces and nephews to kids class too….a special time, and I am sure they will remember it!

So….all you little ones….thanks for coming and I’ll see you again in August!

Craftin’ with Kids

I held my semi annual Craftin’ with Kids event on August 27th.  I did this last year and the date seems to work pretty well.  Many folks were in town, because school was starting on Monday.  It also gave the kids the opportunity to make a card for their friends or their teachers for their first day.   I love watching the kids start to create their card….I give them the “guideline” and they each  make it their own.  Most of them know exactly who they are giving that card to when they start.

Here are the cards we made (I have tried making other projects, but apparently, kids LOVE cards!)

stamp set:  turtle and co (our ronald mcdonald house stamp set), happiest birthday wishes (hostess set)
cardstock:  sahara sand, whisper white, island indigo, pool party
ink:  basic black, island indigo
accessories:  lattice folder for  mr. big, scallop edge border punch, scallop circle punch, 1 3/8 circle punch, pop dots, colored pencils.

stamp set:  need for speed (belongs to my son, he saw it in the new catalog and it was a MUSt have for him!)
cardstock:  whisper white, pumpkin pie, tempting turquoise
ink:  tempting turquoise
accessories:  pumpkin pie designer paper, pumpkin pie/tempting turquoise 1/4 inch grosgrain, 1 1/4 square punch, 1 3/8 square punch, houndstooth folder for mr. big and pop dots.

stamp sets:  aviary, distressed dots, teeny tiny wishes
cardstock:  whisper white, marina mist
ink:  so saffron, perfect plum, marina mist

*if you attended this class and took home the wrong card, PLEASE let me know.  One of the girl’s made this for her dad and ended up with the wrong one.  Her’s says Happy Father’s Day.  She has yours and would love to trade!

Now, I loved all of the cards, but this last one…..I had to “BAM” it up a notch, so here’s my version:

not too many changes, just a layer of perfect plum, a little paper piercing, some hardware and a small piece of ribbon.  Ta-Da!  Straight from last year’s catalog!

I had 19 kids come stamp on Saturday- that’s AWESOME!  I hope everyone had a good time, enjoyed their cards and snacks and I appreciate everyone’s patience!  I will be doing another one this winter, when we are all stuck inside, bored out of our minds and looking for something fun.  Stay tuned!

Kraftin’ with Kids

If you schedule it, they will come!  I just love to see the kiddos show up to make cards and this time, it was so full, I had to make 2 sessions!
